About Us

Thank you for the opportunity to introduce you to our school. In 1999, a group of parents from the Great Swamp Baptist church felt called of God to create a local Christian school. That fall, 27 students enrolled in our K3 through second grades. We now employ 22 faculty and staff and have 235 students in K3 through the twelfth grade. This year we will celebrate with our first graduates! Step of Faith continues to be a growing ministry of Great Swamp Church.

The Lord has blessed our school in many ways.  We are able to offer small class sizes allowing for challenging interaction between student and teacher. Utilizing the A Beka book curriculum, our dedicated teachers provide superior academics in a thoroughly Christian environment. Equally important are the morals, the Biblical values, the love of God and of country that are instilled in our boys and girls throughout the course of the school day.

Each morning our teachers open the word of God and share familiar Bible stories, lead in uplifting singing and provide a special time of prayer. Students participate in Junior (K4-3rd) or Senior (4th-12th) chapel on Fridays. Classes are busy with projects, planning trips and diligently mastering information. Our students take computer, art and physical education classes in addition to their academic studies. Step of Faith participates in the Duke Young Scholar program and in the South Carolina Association of Christian Schools Fine Arts Festival. We compete in Varsity Volleyball, Soccer and Baseball.

As a member of SCACS, our students take the Nationally recognized Stanford Achievement Tests and Otis Lennon School Abilities Tests each spring. Our Boys and girls consistently score among the highest in the state. We are indeed busy following the Lord’s command:  “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might! Eccles.9:10” We believe in not only offering you, our neighbors, a good education, but the very best ~ as unto the Lord.

Please be assured that I am as interested in your child’s education as you are.  I take my job very personally; and will see to the best interest of each of our children. If I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

This is an effort to introduce to you the facts about our school - but I haven't yet shared with you the HEART of our school.
That would come from meeting our teachers  -

The ladies who nurture the students entrusted to them by parents, yes, but most importantly, by Almighty God.

At Step of Faith, we GET the awesome responsibility it is to be trusted with a child… to teach…to influence ... to shape his/her character.
We are blessed with the privilege of praying for - and with - our students. We daily open the word of God and share familiar Bible stories and apply those ancient truths to the lives of our young people.

Step of Faith IS a small Christian School. That's who we are. We minister to the families God brings to us. We serve a unique niche in our community; and with God's blessing, will continue to do so.

Faithful is He that calleth you who will do it. I Thess. 5:24
